Cajun Turkey Double Cheese 'n Onion Burger

I have to give credit for this post to K-Mo...I'm basically copying her style. For those of you who don't know her, she rocks. Majorly. And she cooks amazing, super-healthy food almost always free of the nasty stuff we all hate - preservatives and chems and all the other junk they put in food these days. So go check out her blog right here and enjoy some really great recipes!

You know those days where you are like, "Hey, I like sandwhiches!" while at the exact same time thinking, "Gee, I love burgers!" Here, these thoughts meet in culinary perfection. If I do say so myself.

  • 1lb fresh, never-frozen ground beef (93% lean)
  • 1/4lb thin-sliced deli Cajun turkey
  • 2 thick slices of cheddar
  • Lettuce
  • Onion, rough diced (my onion pieces are always of varying sizes)
  • 2 thick tomato slices
  • Whole-wheat buns
  • 4 tablespoons Worstershire sauce
  • Mayonnaise
  • Deli mustard
  • Garlic powder

  1. Chop onions and mix diced pieces into ground beef and pour in Worstershire while mixing. Flatten into patty.
  2. Place patty in frying pan on low/medium heat. The worstershire should keep the patty from sticking, but flip as necessary until the patty is spongy (when you can press it down and it returns to it's shape after you remove your finger). Sprinkle on Garlic powder, both sides. About 5 min total cooking time, varying by stovetop. I like mine medium-rare, so you might do yours longer.
  3. While patty is frying, toast the buns. If you don't toast the buns, discontinue recipe and jump off a cliff.
  4. As soon as the buns are done toasting (aka while they are still pipin' hot), take a slice of cheese and put it on the bottom bun. It will begin to melt.
  5. When patty is done, place the other slice of cheese on top of it. It too will begin to melt.
  6. Wipe the saliva from your face and take a drink of water.
  7. Place patty on bottom bun, and then place tomato, lettuce, and turkey on top of patty.
  8. Spread mayo on top bun and then squeeze out healthy portion of deli mustard.
  9. Slice in half, spread halves, and fill interior with Zapps potato chips.
  10. Pour yourself a very large glass of Barq's root beer.
  11. Try not to eat your own hands as you WOLF THAT SUCKER DOWN!!
